Common Lifestyle Of People Who are in Different sorts of Addictions
You can easily find people who are engaged in different sorts of addictions, in your locality or in your contact circle. These people have one thing common in their lifestyle, that is,
their urges make them live for the pleasure they can attain in the present moment, and
they are too easy on themselves, that is , they have very less control on their minds.
Such people, remain puzzled with their life as they don't have any control in their lifestyle. Their urges control their lifestyle and so they fail badly in their profession or work/studies. To clear off, first we need to understand what addiction means?
What does Addiction means?
We all know the basic definition of addiction. So, no need to repeat. But in broader and more clearer sense, any sort of addiction starts whenever we gain a new experience in life, for ex, a chain-smoker may have drank his first cigarette, that might be because he was too fascinated about that thing, or because he/she wants to become cool or awesome in front of everyone, that is because of the impact of social media, but more light on that later. One of the other reason could be a false friendship, where a friend offers him/her such sort of things.
These all first experiences are a high dopamine rewards for your brain, and whenever there is large dopamine burst in your brain, you feel happy, joyful and rewarded for some moments, but vanishes off after sometime. After that, these first experiences gets registered in the brain, and it rewires your brain so that it sends signals to you to again repeat the same thing and so that it can again feel rewarded and high.
Now, strong minded or future sighted people can easily gain control over this emotion, but that's opposite in the case of weak minded, or for those people who have no clue about their future and they life for the happiness that could be offered to them in the present. So, after some time, things start repeating and your desires turn into addictions. That is the basic logic behind addictions. Since you figured out that your addictions are ruining your life, you feel guilt on yourself.
Now, let's look at the ways by which you can control your addictions:
How can you control your addictions?
Quit the denial of the problem.
Stop from the very minute thinking that your addictions are not a problem. Stop justifying yourself while taking another shot of useless desire fulfillment that that is not a very big problem, or this is the last time you are doing this thing, Or there are other big problems to face off, Or someone drinks or smokes more than i do. Stop rationalizing that random and useless myths that pop up in your mind that you become more social or practical when you drink. These all are resistance to change created by your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind can't differentiate what's good or bad for you. It's your conscious self who has to take the decision. So, recognize all these resistance excuses that pop up in your mind and get rid of them, the sooner the better.
